#Group Meeting 12

Today we continued to edit our accumulated footage. We haven't begun to position / alter our shots in time with the 'on beat' so far as we are currently trying to compose a rough cut with the necessary clips in a chronological order in order to get a clearer idea of what we have to work with. Thus today we continued to work upon the 40's & 20's making sure that the 'candle blows out' --> 'match strikes up' transition was cut precisely in order to make the change-over seamless. We also spent a lot of time reassessing our shot variety and contemplating on which angles we perhaps lacked or over used; we concluded that we most defiantly need to add more close ups & extreme close ups and when working on the duration of the 1920's we made this a top priority. By constantly watching our footage over and over again and formulating notes & feed back for one another it has helped to ease the pressure of the editing process and allow us to stay on top of our work load as & repeatedly improve our work . We need to now focus very much on corresponding the vocals & footage to allow our narrative shots to produce a catchy, sensory, musical piece. As we haven't yet filmed our performance part of the MV it has made starting the aforementioned process extremely difficult as we need to have a full set of all usable shots in order to start nit-picking in relation to rhythm & timing. We also started to brain storm further ideas in order to improve the quality of the footage; i felt it was key to research into the photographic features used & cameras used for filming /photographing throughout our selected decades in order to gage an understanding of what would have truly been authentically produced in those time frames. I knew it was no good extensively working upon costume & mis en scene without aiding these features with the key 'media' (or technological) elements of the film - camera,editing & lighting. Thus we decided (when our rough cut is done) to add black & white, sepia, & different forms of saturation & colour temperature tinting in order to mimic the set periods.
